Dear member;

This letter is an informational note to inform all members of the prospects for the upcoming purchase of property for housing groomers, and office space for the snowmobile club.  The board had appointed 4 board members to investigate perspective properties for purchase within the local areas of: Piseco, Lake Pleasant, and Speculator.  Criteria for the proposed purchase are based on location which would be accessible by trail and road.  The property would also encompass for the possibility of expansion for future growth.  The proposed property would afford all grooming equipment ease of access to the facility for storage and maintenance.

As stated in by-law Article IV - management, section 4.01: The Board of Directors shall manage the club and have overall policy, decision making, and judiciary authority.  The officers of the club shall have operating authority with responsibility for carrying out the policies and decisions of the Board of Directors.

The opportunity has been presented to the board for the purchase of the Tamarack with the agreement that the club would give an appropriate receipt to the seller for the purpose of a tax based donation by the seller.  After conversation with an attorney and  an accountant we are now in the process of working for the acquisition of the proper tax status which is 501-C (3).  This endeavour is a lengthy process which the board will continually inform members of the status and progress there in.  As per the accountant, it is felt that the club has a good chance of attaining this tax status which will be determined and granted by the IRS.  At this point there will be no purchase as everything is dependent on the club receiving the 501-C(3) tax status. The process is anticipated to take several months.  Following the proposal presented by the board to the IRS, the anticipated approval time will take several months following this presentation.

In closing, the board will continually maintain an open forum for comments, concerns and questions by club members.  We look forward to updating club members at our regular monthly meetings as the acquired information by the accountant and attorney is presented to the club.

Sincerely,
The Pleasant Riders Board

Logging in Speculator Tree Farm

Logging update -

When we went to groom Old Rt 30 in the Tree farm Sunday we learned that the trail had been plowed clean by the logger working on Fly Creek. We were told over a week ago that the logger was to be off of Old Rt 30 within a day or two and there would be no more plowing. Paul A. contacted the DEC again only to learn that the logger complained that he was having problems taking empty trucks down a section of Elm lake Rd and the Town of Wells told them it was OK to plow Old Rt 30.

No one from the snowmobile club was informed and neither was the DEC.

So, Old Rt. 30 will be open to both Logging Trucks (traveling South) as well as snowmobiles from Cave Hill Rd. to Fly Creek Rd. Half of the road will be plowed and half will be groomed. We will take the groomers this weekend and pull back as much snow onto the trail as we can.

Please travel this section of trail w/ care and be ready for oncoming traffic both vehicle and sled at all times.

Thanks

Bob C.
