The end of January saw our Riding for the Cure, Cancer Ride. After 12 months of blood, sweat and tears the Ride Committee was able to show off all their hard work. With little snow, riders still came out. 90+ riders in fact, 147 people for the buffet dinner and tons of donations not only monetary but also goods from local business for the Bucket Auction and Live Auction.
$12,520.00 was raised and donated to the Local Chapter of the American Cancer Society. 2,600 wigs were purchased in 2014 for cancer patients, 1000 rides to and from cancer treatments were given. As well as 3500 family members able to have free lodging while their loved one was being treated. To say that we have made a difference is an understatement. We will and hope each of you will continue to give to cancer research. A cure may be on the horizon so let’s keep the future looking bright!
We would like to thank each and every person who joined in the days events, Those who were sponsors of Riding for the Cure and those who donated their time to help out during the event. Many Thanks to Oak Mountain for hosting the Ride. A Great, Huge, Giant Thank You to the Riding for the Cure Committee for their hard work and endless hours of organizing!
Our grooming crews have been out daily making sure the Club trails are in tip top shape. Please get out there and enjoy them. Use caution, you never know when we may be out there. The equipment now is not like it use to be, much wider and not too easy to get around in certain areas. We do not want to see anyone get hurt, we just want to see the smiles on your faces as you enjoy the ride through the mountains!
At our March Meeting we will be holding our annual elections. Those interested in running for a board seat or president, please contact Mickey O’Rourke @ 548-3703 for more information or to have your name entered on the ballot.
Wishing everyone a safe riding season, Please get out and support your club, near or far! Every little bit helps!
